Well, today is Valentine’s Day, and perhaps you haven’t quite gotten your plans together for a proper celebration. No need to panic, as the weekend looms on the horizon with an abundance of local entertainment, dining and activity options!

Maybe you aren’t looking for something so sweet to celebrate the weekend. In that case, perhaps tickets to the newly-opened and acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Paramount Theater are in order! “Find a way to get out to Aurora for this production”, raves Alan Bresloff, of Around the Town Chicago. The show runs through March 19th.

How about a quick weekend getaway to Galena? Only 160 miles northwest of Naperville, this lovely and quaint town is less than a 3-hour drive away. There are lots of interesting things to do–visit the Ulysses S. Grant Home State Historic Site or the Galena Art Center, browse the many specialty shops on Main Street, or hop on an authentic Galena Trolley for a tour of the beautiful 19th-century historic homes. Top off the day with some wine tasting at Galena Cellars and perhaps an overnight stay at the romantic Goldmoor Inn, a lovely bed and breakfast located above the banks of the Mississippi River.

For a more low-key, yet fun-filled weekend activity, try Naperville’s Top Golf. Weather is never a factor here, with over 100+ climate-controlled hitting bays, and you don’t have to be a golfer to enjoy this golf-plus-food-and -beverages venue! Just make sure to check out the reservations options, since this place is always very popular!

Happy planning and Happy Valentine’s Day!
